Cleghorn Plantation
Cleghorn is ranked #6 in North Carolina by  This George Cobb designed course goes  through the mountains and valleys of western North Carolina.
A public golf course having 18 holes and stunning  mountain and stream views.  Located just off of Highway 221 in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest.
Marion Lake Club is located less than 5 miles from Interstate 40 and is known for its spectacular views of Lineville Gorge and Shortoff Mountains
 North Carolina magazine ranked Mount Mitchell golf courses in the top 10 public courses in the state.
Silver Creek is a championship design by Tom Jackson, a leading golf architects. It offers breathtaking views of mountains, ponds and streams.
Beech Mountain Resort is  Located in the mountains of western North Carolina, with a base elevation of 5,505 feet above sea level. 
Sugar Mountain's 1200 foot drop makes it the largest mountain in the state.
Lake James is 6510-acre lake with more than 150 miles of shoreline.  Activities include swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing and walking.

Lake Lure is a  man-made lake with 21 miles of shoreline, and is as deep as 115 feet at some points.

In addition to scenic views, Lake Lure offers a variety of outdoor recreation, everything from waterskiing and lake touring to fishing and even a scenic area to hike -- Chimney Rock.

State Parks
Mount Mitchell (elevation 6,684 feet) is the highest point east of the Rockies and is located in a 1855 acre North Carolina State Park. It offers hiking, picnicing, and gift shopping.

The park has elevations up to 3,000 feet, a waterfall dropping 80 feet and more than 40 miles of trails. A number of activities are available at South Mountains State Park including equestrian camping to trout fishing, mountain biking to picnicking.

 Nearby Towns ( within 30 to 45 minute drive)
This small city is tucked in the mountains and provides opportunities to visit the theater, enjoy music, dine at a number of fine restaurants, etc.
Marion is a lovely city that lives up to our motto, “where main street meets the mountains.” We enjoy a good quality of life, safe streets and neighborhoods, great amenities & ample shopping opportunities.
Morganton has a  vibrant downtown filled with restaurants, galleries, shops, parks a movie theater, and more. Residents may gather on the Historic Courthouse Square during spring and summer to enjoy free Friday night concerts, and CoMMA, the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium, which offers wonderful shows and theater productions.
Downtown Rutherfordton is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  It is a beautiful representation of rural western North Carolina small towns.  It is located on ridges, and  its elevations offer great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its location in the Isothermal Belt means mild weather and outstanding beauty in four distinct seasons.
